The Fort Atkinson Community Foundation is pleased to announce that Megan Hartwick will be the Foundation’s next Executive Director. She will begin serving in that role starting January 1, 2025.
“Megan will add great value to the Foundation,” declared Foundation Chairman Sally Koehler. “With over a decade of local nonprofit leadership experience, a strong record of community involvement, effective communication skills, and a passion for the Fort Atkinson community, Megan is the ideal person to help guide the Foundation forward.”
Born and raised in Fort Atkinson, Hartwick served as the executive director of the United Way of Jefferson and N. Walworth Counties from 2013 to 2022. Currently, she is working as the executive director of Bethel House in Whitewater while also operating her own nonprofit support business, MK Hartwick Consulting.
In addition to her work experience, Hartwick has also devoted her personal time to serving the Fort Atkinson community in a variety of ways. She has served on the Fort Atkinson City Council, worked as a volunteer for both the Chamber of Commerce and the Fort Atkinson Generals, and was the founder and now current coordinator for the FA Summer Charity Concerts in Barrie Park. In addition, she is an active Kiwanis Club member, a member of the City of Fort Atkinson’s Police and Fire Commission, and treasurer of the Luther Elementary School PTO.
These professional and volunteer roles have given Hartwick a wide-ranging knowledge of the Fort Atkinson community.
Megan and her husband, Samuel, live in Fort Atkinson with their two boys, Weston, 7, and Davis, 5, - and their puppy Birdie. In her free time, she enjoys running, meeting friends for coffee, traveling, and playing board games with her family.
"I have felt so fortunate to have served Fort Atkinson in many capacities over the past decade or so,” Hartwick stated, “and I am thrilled that my next role in public service will be as the new executive director of the Fort Atkinson Community Foundation. The Foundation has provided impactful support across so many areas of our city for the past 50 years, and I am honored to help facilitate the role the Foundation will play in the future. I look forward to continuing the legacy of strong donor stewardship, community partnerships, and collaboration, all to support the mission of a better Fort Atkinson."
Joining Hartwick in the work of the Fort Atkinson Community Foundation will be the Foundation’s 2025 Board of Directors including Chairman Lisa Caras, Vice Chairman Jim Schulenburg, Treasurer Bonnie Geyer, Secretary Robert Cassiday, and Director Whitney Townsend. The Board will also be supported by past chairman Sally Koehler.
