The Fort Atkinson Community Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of a new scholarship fund to its portfolio.
The Gary and Bonnie Hamm Scholarship Fund will be available to graduating Fort Atkinson High School seniors who plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree at a 4-year public college or university.
Gary and Bonnie both spent their careers teaching in the School District of Fort Atkinson. Gary taught health and physical education as well as coaching track, softball, and basketball teams. Bonnie was a reading specialist and taught in the primary grades. The Hamms know that education and accompanying co-curricular participation are important and they wanted to ensure that future Fort Atkinson students could take advantage of the educational opportunities they have earned.
Selection will be based on the applicant’s academic record as well as their involvement in extracurricular activities, particularly noting where they have taken leadership positions.
The total amount to be awarded for the 2023-24 school year is $1,000 and payment of the scholarship will be made in one year.
Interested applicants should visit the Community Foundation’s website, www.fortfoundation.org, and follow the links to the scholarship pages. Here applicants will be guided to Fort Scholarships, the Foundation’s online scholarship application website, which will walk them through the application process.
The deadline for receipt of completed applications is February 8th, 2024.
